Alta-Aurelia finishes strong as season restarts

The Alta-Aurelia boys’ basketball team finished strong as it turned an early eight-point deficit to a 62-49 non-conference win at MVAO-COU in Mapleton Jan. 3.

The Warriors trailed 24-16 in the second quarter before turning on the jets in both ends of the floor to pull away for their sixth win in eight games.

“We woke up. It showed that we have not played since Dec. 14. I didn’t know what we would get out of the guys. It took us 16 minutes to settle in. We were down double digits in the first half and worked it down to a six-point deficit at the half. We didn’t play that bad, we were just getting out-executed. Our guys adjusted to a few halftime changes and we played very well in the second half. I told our guys once we take the lead, it is over. We were able to tie it up early in the fourth quarter, I called a timeout and told the guys the game is over (decided),” said A-AHS head coach Evan Franzmeier.
