Alta's P&Z okays revision of RV parking rules

Alta’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted Dec. 28 in favor of recommending a revised Recreational Vehicle (RV) parking ordinance to the city council for its consideration.

The vote was three to one, with member Chris LaDoux voting nay. Voting in favor were members Paul Grieme, Darrel DePrez and Brian Schwanz.

City attorney John Murray recommended the following amendment to the RV section in the zoning ordinance.

“The parking of recreational vehicles and related accessory vehicles or trailers, including but not limited to, recreational vehicles, motor homes, campers, fifth wheels, travel trailers, boats, trailers, personal watercraft, snowmobiles, ATVs, motorcycles and any other vehicle shall be prohibited from parking on vacant properties intended for the use of long term parking or storage. Such recreational vehicles may be parked on a vacant lot for no longer than 72 hours for short term parking or use.”
