Aurelia council votes to keep community center, shelter house closed


The Aurelia City Council discussed re-opening the community center and park shelter house during its regular meeting June 15. After careful consideration and extensive discussion, the council decided to keep the community center and park shelter house closed until further notice. 
Following public hearings, the council approved two resolutions disposing of an interest in real estate and conveyance of real estate contract for Tract A, Carlson Third Addition and Tract B, Carlson Third Addition. Jennifer J. Bowen and Brent A. Fassler purchased Tract A for $1,000. Myron Lee Radke and Susan J. Radke purchased Tract B for $2,045.
A resolution was adopted amending the schedules of fee ordinance and setting a public hearing for July 20.
After reviewing the public works report, the council approved the purchase of a Myers non-clog sewage pump – 12-inch diameter from Dakota Supply Group for $11,403.00 plus freight.
A Birdie Sponsor donation of $250 to Friends of Aurelia’s fifth annual All “Fore” the Kids Event Raffle and Fireworks Saturday, July 4 was approved.
The council discussed investments and agreed to leave the amount in the city’s checking account to cover cost of M21 project, pool repairs and purchase of new city pickup and police Durango.
The city handbook draft was discussed. City Clerk Barb Messerole was directed to add C-M-L telephone’s cell phone usage policy to the City of Aurelia’s Internet and email current policy.
City clerk/treasurer position was discussed. Second interviews were conducted with two applicants June 16.
The landfill report was given and the police and clerks reports were reviewed.
