Aurelia Star sold to Storm Lake Times

Mid-America Publishing Corporation has sold the Aurelia Star to the Storm Lake Times, effective Aug. 28. “Since purchasing the newspaper from Marcella Brown of Marcell Publishing, in December 2016, Mid-America Publishing has strived to provide exceptional local news coverage and advertising opportunities and we are confident that the Storm Lake Times will continue this tradition,” said Pam DeVries, Mid-America Publishing president.  
“There will be no immediate changes in The Aurelia Star,” said Art Cullen, editor and publisher of The Storm Lake Times. The newspaper will arrive in the mail on Wednesdays. The website will continue to operate. “The Storm Lake Times has covered Aurelia for many years, and we look forward to doing even more in the future. The Times postal address is P.O. Box 487, Storm Lake, Iowa 50588. The Times office at 220 W. Railroad St. in Storm Lake will handle all of the subscription and advertising business for The Star. Kurtz recently returned home from The Des Moines Register, where he was a news editor. Sports Editor Jamie Knapp will cover Alta-Aurelia sports for The Star.
The Storm Lake Times was founded in 1990 by John Cullen, who remains president of the company. It is a twice-a-week independent newspaper. In 2017, Art Cullen, times journalist, won the Pulitzer Prize for a series of editorials on nitrate pollution of the Raccoon River.
