Aurelia students ‘cast’ ballots

Alta-Aurelia Elementary (Aurelia) kindergarten and transitional kindergarten cast their first ballots in a mock election Nov. 5.

“We vote every year just to instill the right and responsibility of voting. We do a presidential vote on years where we are voting on a new president. Other years we do a ballot. The students loved voting and hearing the results. We watched a video and then discussed different times you may vote in your life now,” said kindergarten teacher Amy Rohwer.

In choices for food, doughnut won with 10 votes, to seven for pizza and two for oranges.

For insects, butterfly won with 12 votes to six for bees and one for snail.

For pets, dogs won with 12 votes, compares to three for rabbits and cats.

For weather, sunny edged snowing, nine to eight, with stormy gaining two votes.

For animals, giraffes and lions tied with seven votes and monkeys had four votes.
