Cherokee supervisors canvass Washta election

The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors approved the canvass of a May 1 special city election held for Washta City Council May 8.

Of the 146 registered voters, 60 cast ballots, for a turnout of 41.1 percent. The winner of the four-person race was Jennifer Cooper with 28 votes. Danella Zupp received 15 votes, Lucas Edwards received 11 votes and Lawrence G. Long received six votes. The term of Doug Eades expires in 2021.
