County board handles wages, requests

The Cherokee Supervisors met March 26 to consider several matters from wage approvals, to a Cherokee County Veterans’ Affairs office request, and utility permits for the Glacier’s Edge Wind Farm near Marcus.

Supervisors approved fiscal year 2020 wage authorizations for building custodian Paul Paltz, $10.77 per hour, a 2.75 percent increase; information technologies director Stu Hogg, $67,387, a 2.75 percent increase, and community services director Lisa Bringle $63,140, a 3 percent increase, set by the region.

Cherokee County Veterans Service Officer (VSO) Jerry Weiland presented information on the need for an administrative assistant.

“Moving here to the courthouse, which was approved by the supervisors 13 months ago, was great for the office and the veterans. It hasn’t slowed down since January. We need someone to come in and help out on days I’m gone, for 10 hours a week. This will give me more time to meet with veterans and the families,” said Weiland.
