CRMC COVID-19 precautions

In response to the rapidly changing situation surrounding coronavirus-19, Cherokee Regional Medical Center (CRMC) and the public health department are working closely with Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to respond to the evolving situation. Informational webinars have been viewed and information sent out to many community partners.
Cherokee Regional Medical Center’s environment of care committee, with representatives from emergency preparedness, nursing and administration, are coordinating hospital preparation and response plans, including:
•Employee education and preparedness
•Patient and visitor entry-point screening and response
•Patient response protocols
Working groups, including the CRMC administrative team, meet daily to assess changes in the situation, adapt plans as necessary and to communicate to providers, staff and community.
Call ahead first
If you are experiencing the symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath and/or having traveled on vacation in the past 14 days, or having been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 patient, please call ahead. Before you go directly to the clinic or the emergency room, call your healthcare provider as you may be given special instructions.
If you drive to the hospital with these symptoms, there will be signage on the doors directing you to return to your vehicle and then call for instruction.
Call the CRMC Emergency Department at 712-225-5101 or Cherokee Regional Clinic at 712-225-6265.
CRMC employee and visitor screening now in effect:  All employees and visitors will be screened, until further notice, prior to entering CRMC or Cherokee Regional Clinic. Staff will be taking temperatures and asking various health- and travel-related questions upon arrival.
CRMC staff states that it appreciates everyone’s understanding and assistance in this process. CRMC apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause, but the health and safety of their staff, patients and visitors is the hospital’s top priority.
Visitor restrictions:  Due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 throughout the U.S. and recent positive cases in our region, effective Monday, March 23, until further notice, CRMC is not allowing visitors, except for very select circumstances, such as end of life situations or births and only at the discretion of CRMC administration and staff.
Vendor restrictions:  Non-essential vendors are restricted from entering the facility. Business should be conducted through telephone or email.
Business-essential vendors should be healthy without having flu-like symptoms (fever of 100F or higher, cough and /or sore throat) in the past seven days.
