Curator coffee learns about headstones

Headstones and their symbols were the topics of discussion for Sanford Museum and Planetarium’s two cemeteries walks last week at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee.

Aurelia Heritage Society members attended the Oct. 30 “Coffee with the Curator” event at the cemetery. The first event was a Sanford Museum Association event Oct. 27.

Several county founding fathers were mentioned, from Robert Perry, the first white settler, to early settlers A. Haynes, J.A. Brown, G.W. Leborveau, Carson Corbett, Albert Philpps, Silas Parkhurst and G.W. Bannister.
