Emergency management okays drone policy

Cherokee County Emergency Management Commission (EMC) approved procedures regarding the use of Unmanned Aerial System (AES) drones when coordinator Justin Pritts acquires one. The commission voted unanimously to back the policy presented by Pritts July 31 at its meeting.

Pritts is obtaining a DJI Matrice 210 model drone at a cost of $25,000 with half or more of that cost from donations. The EMC has $10,000 it received previously from Dakota Access pipeline and is actively seeking other donations.
