Firms seek city’s mosquito work

The Aurelia City Council received proposals from two vendors interested in handling the city’s mosquito control business this summer Jan. 28.

No decision was reached and the matter was tabled until the Feb. 18 meeting. Competing firms are Mosquito Control of Iowa and present provider, Triple C Pest Control of Quimby. Both were present at the council meeting.

Rich Welter of Mosquito Control of Iowa explained the firm, based in Rolfe, has been in the business for 40 years. “We have well over 95 percent renewal of our contracts,” Welter said. “We originated and continue to improve the enhanced full program, which excides the integrated pest management concept of surveying, monitoring, identification, adulticiding and barrier.
