Hanover Village seeks support for FY19

Hanover Historical Society requested Buena Vista County funds for fiscal year 2019 at the board of supervisors’ Dec. 19 meeting, one of several groups to do so. The Society sought a $1,000 contribution from the county.

The village, southeast of Alta, off county road C-63, shows life in the 1880s. Its highlight is the Hanover Festival, which is held the final weekend of August. In addition, a German-style Octoberfest fundraiser was held the past two years in Aurelia.

“There is a lot of upkeep at Hanover, but it is a lot of love,” said Arlen Hinkeldey, vice president of the Hanover Historical Society.

The village includes a barn, machine shed, mill house, granary, corner house, blacksmith shop and general store.
