Kiwanis increase path environment education

When walkers return to the Aurelia Kiwanis Walking Path next spring, they will notice some improvements and additional environmental information. The trail is just off Highway 7.

This fall, Kiwanis members Jim Hultgren and Duane Kent installed an environmental information kiosk. Hultgren was the one who worked from a sketch and put the woodwork together. He said it was meant to look like the gazebo, also on the path.

“It goes with our mission of helping children and the community,” said Hultgren. “About three years ago, we decided to put some information there about the wetlands and native prairie and add to the education endeavor. This summer, we installed an exploration trail where people can learn about plants. The kiosk had been there for about a year, and people were asking about its purpose.”
