PPEL extension for A-A school district on ballot

On the April 2 ballot, Alta-Aurelia School District voters will decide whether or not the school district may extend the Physical Plant and Approval Equipment Levy (PPEL) and to impose an income surtax for 10 years.

The school board voted five to zero to have the PPEL extension on the ballot at the Feb. 13 meeting. Board members Jodi Theisen and Gigi Nelson were not present.

The school board gave direction to have the income surtax included but has not yet decided on a percentage. Voters in the school district reside in Buena Vista, Cherokee and Sac Counties. The measure needs 50 percent approval to pass.
