Simonsen lauded for service

The Cherokee County Supervisors met Dec. 24 to praise the 26-year career of Jeff Simonsen of Quimby, who retired from the board.

The Federal Census of 1990 had a lot to do with the timing of Simonsen’s run for office.

“Due to the 1990 Census, three of the supervisors’ terms were for four years and one was for two years. I ran for the two-year term,” said Simonsen.

Former Cherokee County supervisors and one from a neighboring county, as well as family and friends, visited Simonsen at a courthouse reception. Supervisor chair Rick Mongan presented Simonsen with a plaque for his years of service.
