Supervisors agree to add road staff

Cherokee County Secondary road engineer Sarah Tracy presented a proposal to the Cherokee County Supervisors for an additional full-time staff position at its July 23 meeting.

The supervisors gave Tracy approval to advertise for the assistant to engineer position.

“The person would help with project development, letting through Iowa DOT (Department of Transportation) and utilizing all the funds. We would like to have a 20-year transportation plan as well as the five-year plan,” said Tracy. “I see the pay about $55,000 to $65,000, depending on the person’s experience.”

Chairman Rick Mongan said he is in favor of the additional staff.
