Warrior teacher happy to promote art

Jerry Braunschweig agreed to help out Alta School District when it was in a pinch for an art teacher.

Braunschwig taught art at Newell-Fonda schools for six years before he and his wife, Connie, devoted work to Branschweig Pottery at their Alta home.

“I thought I would help Alta out for a couple of years, 17 years ago,” said Braunschweig.

Braunschwig’s art students will have one more chance to show what the one-time Cyclone baseball coach taught them, May 1 at the Alta-Aurelia art show at Alta Community Center. Public viewing is from 6-8 p.m.

Braunschwig said, “Retirement hasn’t sunk in yet, because we have been so busy getting ready for the show. A number seven is on the whiteboard, the number of working days remaining. The Art I students are required to have six items, and others worked on one.”
