Warriors major in defense for wins

Special plays on offense, the slam dunk, a half-court shot, might end up on ESPN, but, when it comes to winning, defense still gets the job done.

The Alta-Aurelia Warriors continue to be proof of that this basketball season as they survived a 60-56 win at Sioux Central in Sioux Rapids Jan. 23 for a 12-3 record. The Warriors gave up fewer than 50 points a game going in.

Anthony Krier and Jaden Henrichs kept the Warriors’ four-point lead intact by gaining steals or control of up-for-grabs basketballs in the final two minutes. A-A finished its scoring by making three free-throws in a game finally decided when a long shot fell short by the Rebels.
