Warriors split matches in Fort Dodge

Alta-Aurelia’s wrestling team took on Iowa Falls-Alden (IFA) and St. Edmond, Fort Dodge (STE) Jan. 3 at St. Edmond and came home with a split in the duals.

The Warriors beat St. Edmond, 66-0 but lost to IFA, 44-36.

“The Warriors came back off of their Christmas break by traveling to Fort Dodge St. Edmond’s to take on the host Gaels and Iowa Falls Alden. The coaches were impressed with the intensity and effort. The guys showed they are improving each time out and also showed a couple of areas to improve on. We wrestled a rebuilding St. Edmond’s team who have a lot of freshmen and open weights, but also took on a 17-3 Alden team and it was a match that could have gone either way, but they pulled it out, 44-36. Nick Gaes started the dual in good fashion, taking on eighth ranked in Class 2A McKade Eisentrager and was ahead 14-0 when he pinned him late in the third period,” said A-A coach Mike Fry.
